Mastering Stuttering Masterclass using Neuro-Semantics
Lecturer: Bobby G. Bodenhamer Dmin
How is it that many people who stutter can speak fluently in some contexts yet not speak fluently in others? With this in mind, what does this imply about the cause and continuation of blocking and stuttering?
In this special MasterClass Bobby Bodenhamer will provide you with a set of state-of-the-art tools to create fluency in your clients across all contexts.
Having worked with people who experience blocking and stuttering using Neuro-Semantics, Bobby discovered that the primary drivers of blocking and stuttering are cognitive (thinking) in nature. It is not physical and certainly not genetic. Genetics and psycho-motor problems early on may have played a role in stammering. However, these are not the reasons for its continuation.
It is the deeply unconscious thinking patterns that developed around the stuttering, resulting in fear and anxiety that have locked the behaviour in. Successful treatment involves addressing these thought patterns and changing their meaning (reframing). Once you have removed the meanings around the fear and anxiets of stuttering you remove the stutter.
Neuro-Semantics refers to the fact that when we create meanings in our minds (semantics), those meanings become incorporated in our bodies and nervous systems (neurology). When something means something to us we feel it in our bodies. We experience these meanings as our ‘emotions.’ These meanings become our own values, ideas, beliefs and understandings about ourselves. Addressing the problem of stuttering at this level helps the person who stutters develop new positive beliefs and free themselves from negative thought patterns that contributed to the problem.
This workshop is suitable for healthcare professionals working with people who stutter AND for people who stutter that are looking for a new and revolutionary way of conquering their dysfluency problem.
